Hi Programming Ladies,
An opportunity was given to me to write something to you in honour of Women's Month, and I was struggling to decide what I wanted to say until it dawned on me to share with you something really close to my heart, which is the right to choose.

In life, there are a lot of people or societal expectations that try to dictate who we should be. If you are a mother, you are bombarded with views on motherhood: what you should or shouldn't do to be considered a good mother. In the workplace, you are warned against being too emotional or criticized for not leaning into your femininity enough.
Even with our hair, there seems to be the right way, the acceptable way of wearing your hair.
I have experienced that the expectations and judgement can be endless and create a lot of doubt within us. Nothing has freed me in life more than coming to the realization that, IT IS MY LIFE, and I have the right to choose.

Whether that is not the popular way, and I am seen to be trying to be different, or it is the way everyone is going, and I am seen to be following the crowd, it is my choice, and I get to live with the consequences.
So ladies, let us free ourselves from all the expectations and do what is right for us; let us exercise our right to choose in the mundane all the way to the extraordinary.
Kind regards,
Gugu J
